You renovate? We host. Together with artist/coder Kasper Jordaens, Design Museum Gent is developing creative code that converts our collection data into images during a unique algorave on Museum Night. In short: a party where both the music and the visualisation of our collection are coded live by different ‘algoravers’! For this project Lost in diffusion, we are collaborating with the Wintercircus, home to more than 38 tech start-ups, who, like the museum, want to shape the future together.

The programme:

18:00-01:00: Throughout, you can discover the results of our workshop during the Mutation Festival in the arena of the Wintercircus. During this workshop, we built on the software developed by Kasper Jordaens and showed the potential of open design. Be sure to drop by and take a seat behind the buttons yourself to generate visuals based on objects from our collection.

18:00-21:00: Wintercircus offers an exclusive tour of its startup campus and collective spaces and network. In the upper floors of the campus, they showcase the 38 startups shaping the future.

But Wintercircus is also opening the doors of 'Collective' exclusively for Museum Night! Discover the most historic part of the old circus building, featuring the iconic elephant ramp and former horse stables. You also meet the faces behind Collective — Dorien, Lore, and Noah — and get an inside look at the mission and operations of this changemaker collective.

You can also enjoy the inspiring “Ethereal Echoes” exhibition by DEMAIN Art, showcasing works by 15 emerging artists. Florence Derck, the brain and heart behind DEMAIN Art, will be present for a friendly chat about art. As a final treat, artist Sam Dekocker will bring an additional digital installation: WORLD WIDE WORLD, previously featured at Mutation Festival in Wintercircus and now back for Museum Night.

18:00-01:00: The Wintercircus' arena and exhibition space will be transformed into an algorave, richly decorated with live visuals based on data and images from our collection.
