From circus arena to public square.
A place where technology & culture meet.
In case there was any doubt: while brilliant minds focus on the future, Wintercircus continues its tradition as an entertainment haven. A hundred years ago, people from all walks of life flocked to Wintercircus to be amazed by the artists and innovations of the time. We are reclaiming that societal role with the artists and innovations of today (and preferably also those of tomorrow). Wintercircus is here to inspire and entertain. It should spark debate and bring joy. And, above all, it must once again engage and get everyone excited about the future.

Made possible by the Ghent city development company Sogent, the Stadsvernieuwingsfonds, and the European Regional Development Fund. Sogent purchased the vacant building in 2005 on behalf of the City of Ghent with the aim of renovating and integrating it into the completely renewed De Krook district. The first renovation works started on June 6, 2017. Sogent selected the temporary association of BARO and SUMproject as architects. Together with the engineering firm VK Engineering, they are overseeing the execution of the renovation works for phases 1 and 2. The renovation was made possible in part by the support of the European Regional Development Fund (€1,352,317.5) and the Stadsvernieuwingsfonds (€3,223,380).
